Frequently asked questions for applicants
Where can I find information about current job opportunities at CHI?
All current vacancies are published on the Children’s Health Ireland Careers website – https://chi.jobs/.
The application deadline has passed — can I still apply?
Unless otherwise stated in the job advertisement, the closing time for CHI applications is 23:45 (Irish time) on the specified date. Applications cannot be accepted after this deadline.
Can I revise or amend my application?
Once submitted, applications cannot be edited. We encourage you to review your application thoroughly before submitting to ensure all information is accurate and complete.
Can I apply if I meet only some of the essential criteria?
Essential criteria reflect the key requirements the hiring manager is seeking for the role. We ask managers to keep this list focused and relevant. To be considered for the next stage of the recruitment process at CHI, candidates must be able to clearly demonstrate how they meet all these essential requirements.
How can I find out more about a role I’m interested in?
Each CHI job advertisement includes contact details for the hiring manager and Talent Acquisition team. You are welcome to reach out to them directly if you have questions or would like more information about the role.
How and when will I know if I’ve been shortlisted?
Whether you are shortlisted or not, a member of the Talent Acquisition team will contact you directly using the contact information you provided on your application. All communication will be done via our Recruitment system – Rezoomo.
Will I need to complete a Garda Vetting check?
At Children’s Health Ireland, we are committed to fair, transparent, and inclusive recruitment practices.
For roles that involve access to children or vulnerable individuals, Garda Vetting is a mandatory requirement. If you already hold valid Garda Vetting from CHI or another relevant organisation and it is still in date, you may not need to undergo a new check before starting. Garda Vetting clearance is reviewed and updated periodically during employment in line with CHI policy.
Will CHI keep my application on file, and for how long?
If you are unsuccessful, CHI will retain your application and associated documents (including shortlisting records and interview notes) for up to twelve months. If you are successful and offered a position, this information will be added to your employee file.
Will I be notified if a similar role becomes available?
Unfortunately, CHI’s recruitment system does not currently allow automatic notifications about future vacancies. We recommend that you regularly check the CHI Careers page for similar opportunities that may arise.
I cannot attend my interview — can I reschedule?
We will do our best to accommodate requests to reschedule interviews; however, this depends on the availability of the interview panel and may not always be possible.
Will I receive feedback if my application is unsuccessful?
At CHI, we are only able to provide feedback to candidates who have been invited to attend an interview.
I need a visa to work in Ireland. Can I still apply?
If you require permission to work in Ireland and do not currently hold it, you will need to secure the appropriate employment permit or visa. CHI is registered as a Trusted Partner with the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment and may be able to support an employment permit application, depending on the role and your eligibility. For further information on employment permits and visa options, please visit the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment website.
I have a disability that makes it difficult to apply online. Is there another way to submit my application?
If you have a disability that makes the online application process challenging, Children’s Health Ireland is here to support you. You can request an application form in alternative formats. Please contact the Talent Acquisition team listed in the job advertisement to discuss and arrange a suitable option.
I have specific workplace requirements due to my disability. Will CHI be able to accommodate me?
At Children’s Health Ireland, we welcome candidates to share any details of reasonable adjustments they may require. We will discuss these with the interview panel and do our utmost to accommodate them. If, in exceptional circumstances, we are unable to meet a particular adjustment, we will explain why.
Does CHI offer remote job opportunities?
Some roles at CHI are offered on a hybrid basis, with a mix of onsite and remote working, depending on the requirements of the role and service needs. Given our responsibilities in delivering patient-facing healthcare services, there is no fully remote roles.
Are there temporary job opportunities at CHI?
CHI advertises permanent and specified-purpose roles as required. All advertised posts will clearly outline the contract type and duration.
