Purpose of the Role:

This role is accountable for driving and delivering all aspects of the CHI Transformation Programme Vision (as outlined in the government approved Definitive Business Case, 2017) and related strategy, ensuring the programme is delivered on time with all targets met. The role holder will be responsible for the planning and execution of the clinical and operational commissioning, handover of the building, digitalisation and transition of services, staff and related infrastructures to the new children’s hospital on the campus shared with St. James’s Hospital.

The role holder will be required to inspire, lead and role model rapid change in readiness for the movement of services, people, technology and equipment to the new hospital. They will demand innovative technological, systems, clinical and operational change to drive the progression that will enable the move to the new children’s hospital. They will hold the relevant CHI Leadership accountable for specific measurable targets as set out by the Programme Management Office strategic objectives and plans, and will support Leadership and Programme Managers to effectively and flexibly problem solve blockers and issues on the path to change.

This role is responsible for reporting to the Chief Executive and onto its Board, against agreed programme milestones, targets and benefits. Working within a matrix programme structure, direct reports to the role will be leads across all programme work streams, e.g. Integration, Commissioning, Clinical & Operational Transformation, Corporate Transformation, Digital Health etc.

Essential Criteria:

  • Senior or executive management experience in acute hospital, health or social care organisations or in other public or private sector customer-facing organisations, the role holder will be attuned to the demands of regulation and of public scrutiny, and will bring a demonstrable track record of high level achievement against challenging performance targets.
  • Ideally an experienced acute health service executive leader with a track record of successful transformation across a significant scale hospital network or health service.
  • A proven track record of success in leading major change, delivering on strategy, and meeting Service Level Agreements while staying within budget.
  • Experience in leading dynamic and transformational change at scale, which builds employee engagement boosts innovation and delivers on ambitious organisational goals.
  • Experience in leading strategic, long term planning, vision and goal setting to anticipate future opportunities and challenges.
