Staff Nurse/ Phlebotomist: Phlebotomy Service –

Specific Purpose Contract: part time wte 0.20 / 7.80 hours per week

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and well-motivated staff nurse or Phlebotomist, to join our phlebotomy service.  We are seeking individuals who demonstrate a desire to deliver a positive patient experience with an ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

This is an excellent opportunity for professional development and education.  We offer a full orientation programme to develop skills and knowledge in this area.  This will include training and competencies within all aspects of phlebotomy.

Essential Criteria:

  • Candidates must be registered in the Children’s division of the Register of Nurses & Midwives  maintained by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (Bord Altranais agus Cnáimhseachais na hÉireann)

          and / or

  • Hold an accredited health care qualification at QQI Level 6 or higher, awarded by Quality & Qualifications Ireland (QQI),

           and/or

  • Hold the certificate in Phlebotomy from DIT/National Ambulance College (Level 7) or its equivalent Phlebotomy qualification,

          and

  • Current experience in Phlebotomy

Desirable Criteria: 

  • Previous paediatric phlebotomy experience
  • Previous experience in an acute healthcare environment
  • Be registered (or be entitled to be registered) in the general and/or paediatric division of the live register maintained by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland
