Purpose of the Role:

  • The post holder is accountable, responsible and has authority as appropriate to their grade for delivering a quality service and ensuring patient safety.
  • Responsible for the development, management, coordination and delivery of a highly specialised paediatric aseptic pharmacy service (Aseptic activities include the production of cytotoxics, parenteral nutrition, intrathecals, epidurals and pre filled syringes).
  • Adhere to Department and all Hospital policies at all times.
  • Adherence to procedures and guidelines in relation to Child Protection.
  • Embrace and support any changes in technology and to assist in the implementation and operation of these changes.
  • Perform such other duties appropriate to the post as may be assigned from time to time by the Manager or a nominee.
  • You will be required to be completely flexible in relation to the performance of your duties.
  • Participate and cooperate with legislative and regulatory requirements with regard to Quality, Risk, Health and Safety.
  • Participate and cooperate with internal and external evaluations of hospital structures, services and processes as required.
  • To initiate, support and implement quality improvement initiatives in their area which are in keeping with the hospitals continuous quality improvement programme.

 

Essential Criteria:

  • 3years relevant hospital experience at pharmacist grade.
  • Be registered with the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland as a qualified pharmacist.

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Excellent communication negotiation, influence and diplomacy skills.
  • Change management skills, from a policy perspective.
  • Ability to produce and analyse trends outcomes Ability to handle a diverse and challenging workload.
  • Ability to analyse complex problems and develop practical solutions.
  • Knowledge of current and established professional understanding of continuous quality improvement and skills to develop and implement excellent standards of practice.
  • Excellent verbal, written and communication skills appropriate to audience and situation.
  • Ability to relate effectively and build productive relationships at all levels of a complex organisation.
  • Excellent IT skills – Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
