Purpose of the Role:
The purpose of this post is to support the delivery of a quality microbiology service in compliance with best practice and the requirements of international standard ISO 15189.
Essential Criteria:
Candidates must, on the latest date for receiving completed application forms for the post, possess:
- The Bachelor in Science (Applied Science) Honours degree (Biomedical option) from the Technological University Dublin, Kevin Street; or University College Cork or Galway Mayo Institute of Technology (a)
or
- the Diploma in Medical Laboratory Sciences of the Dublin Institute of Technology, Kevin Street or the Cork Institute of Technology awarded prior to 1994 (b)
or
· a recognised qualification at least equivalent to (a) or (b)above;
and
- a postgraduate Masters degree in the field of Medical Laboratory Science
and
- possess or be eligible for Fellowship of the Academy of Clinical Science and Laboratory Medicine (ACSLM)
and
- Be registered with CORU
and
- Possess four years’ experience in a medical laboratory since qualifying
Desirable Criteria:
- Previous experience in a Paediatric laboratory
- Previous participation in Out of Hours On Call
- Experience of ISO 15189, INAB and HPRA accreditation
