Job Summary

The new post holder will work as part of a team of Consultant Anaesthesiologists  participating in the delivery of Paediatric Anaesthesiology for all surgical specialties including an on-call service.

This post is to support the increased surgical actively due to service developments in Paediatric Urology.  The urology workload has increased at Temple street over the last five years for several reasons including:

  • increased central referral of children to Dublin because of decreased or no paediatric experience in surgeons or urologists appointed to regional hospitals,
  • significant increase in the referrals of neonates with urological anomalies due to the widespread use of prenatal ultrasound
  • increased long-term survival of children with syndromes and learning difficulties with continence issues. The level of expectation of parents and health care professionals looking after these children has resulted in a vast increase in referral for management of urinary incontinence,
