Purpose of the Role:

The CNM2/ CNS Neurodisability has a pivotal role of communicator acting a link between child/family, hospital and community. The CNM2/CNS will provide a clinical and educational focus on of the delivery and evaluation of care to children with a neurodisability and their families.

The CNM2/CNS will  provides high quality efficient and effective care for patients and their families through good communication and the provision of information to the relevant services that provide support to the child and family  in the community.

 

Essential Criteria:

  • Be registered in the Children’s Division of the active Register held by Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland or be entitled to be so registered.
  • Have 5 years post registration experience and a minimum of 2 years in the specialty or related area.
  • Have a recognised post graduate course relevant to the area of Neurodisability/Complex Needs Nursing of not less than a level 8 on the NFQ framework. Candidates without the relevant post graduate course will be appointed at CNM2.
  • Candidates without the relevant level 8 qualification must have undertaken a formal post registration clinical education at Higher Certificate or higher, relevant to the area of specialist practice. In circumstances where an award or modules relevant to the area of specialist practice are not available, the applicant must demonstrate that he/she has successfully undertaken a substantial course/ programme relevant to the specialist area of practice prior to application.
  • Have the clinical, managerial and administrative capacity to properly discharge the functions of the role.
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrate evidence of continuing learning and professional development
