Children’s Health Ireland is seeking to fill the Clinical Specialty Lead (CSL) role between 0.2 WTE – 8hrs, depending on Consultant availability and arrangements to be put in place to support their substantive post.  The term of office for each CSL role will be for an initial period of 2 years.

The Clinical Lead has responsibility for the representation of clinical matters within the Paediatric Orthopaedic Surgery specialty or groups of specialties and for providing professional advice to their directorate Clinical Director.  Key to service integration is that there is one lead for each specialty (with ten or more Consultants) or each specialty grouping across the Organisation.

The Clinical Lead will be able to evidence a high level of knowledge and expertise in the specific clinical specialty alongside a high level of commitment to clinical integration.  The Clinical Lead will be well versed in inter-disciplinary working and will operate within the Clinical Directorate model.  It is initially proposed to establish 7 Clinical Lead posts. They will be supported by a Directorate Nurse Lead and a Directorate Operations Manager who will provide the operational leadership team within each of the three Clinical Directorates.  This team will be responsible for the day-to-day running and operational performance of the service.
