Children’s Health Ireland (CHI) operates as a single service across the existing Dublin children’s hospitals, Crumlin, Temple Street and Tallaght. Also, the paediatric outpatients and urgent care centres, Connolly which opened in July 2019 and Tallaght which is due to open in 2021. CHI governs and operates local paediatric services for the Greater Dublin Area and all national paediatric specialist services, some of which are on an all-island basis.

This role will provide leadership to the team of senior and staff grade dietitians working in General Paediatrics across CHI, and work to develop a single General Paediatrics dietetic service across CHI (Connolly, Crumlin, Tallaght and Temple Street pending the move to the new children’s hospital). The post-holder will also support patients requiring home enteral tube feeding that are under the care of CHI specialties, and work to develop a sustainable model for this service into the future in collaboration with community-based colleagues.

Essential Criteria:

  • Applicants must be registered as a Dietitian by the Dietitians Registration Board at CORU

or

  • Applicants who satisfy the conditions set out in Section 91 of the Health and Social Care Professionals Act 2005, must submit proof of application for registration with the Dietitians Registration Board at CORU. The acceptable proof is correspondence from the Dietitians Registration Board at CORU confirming their application for registration as a Section 91 applicant.

and

  • Have 5 years’ full time (or equivalent) years post qualification dietetic experience of which 4 years must be consecutive in the required area of specialism.
  • Demonstrate a proven record of clinical excellence in the specialism.
  • Applicants must demonstrate evidence of continuing professional development relevant to the required area of specialism, in the form of post-graduate qualifications or relevant courses.
  • Applicants must demonstrate achievement in the areas of clinical audit, quality improvement initiatives, practice development, teaching and research.
  • Applicants must have the requisite knowledge and ability (including a high standard of suitability, management, leadership and professional ability) for the proper discharge of the duties of the office.
