Purpose of the Role:

The purpose of this post is to There is a major clinical focus to the role. Responsibilities of the role will comprise of assessment, planning delivery and evaluation of care given to patients and their families as the caseload and role requires. The CNSp will be required to work in close collaboration withnursing and medical colleagues and the wider MDT. The CNSp in Gastroenterology will participate and disseminate research and audit and provide consultancy in education and clinical practice to patients,theirfamilies, nursing colleagues and MDT colleagues and othersas required. Enabling patient empowerment to achieve optimum well-being using appropriate care planning/case management in collaboration with medical and MDT colleagues will provide the foundation for the role. This will also involve advocating on behalfof the patient and promoting self-care through appropriate strategies. Patient education willinclude specific topics families and or carers will be integral to this health promotional role

 

Essential Criteria:

 

RCN/RGN 5 years post graduate experience

And

 

Recent experience in an acute working environment

 

And

 

Have the clinical, managerial and administrative capacity to properly discharge the functions of the role

 

And

 

Demonstrate evidence of continuing professional development at the appropriate level
