The Role of Clinical Nurse Manager II St Johns Ward

This role is to provide professional and managerial leadership within the ward, encouraging staff to develop clinical expertise for the benefit of patients, staff and users of the service

  • To ensure the effective and safe management of patients and families from admission through to discharge to home or shared care centres with the multidisciplinary team.
  • To ensure that risk management has a high profile and incidents are adequately investigated.
  • To develop clinical expertise in Haematology /Oncology to a level that facilitates the development of others at ward level
  • Act as an expert resource to colleagues in the hospital, families and staff of shared care centres.
  • To collaborate with the Clinical Nurse Facilitator ensuring staff are assessed and found competent in nursing practices.
  • To facilitate and coordinate the care of Haematology/oncology patients in St. John’s, in the ICU setting and other wards in the hospital as required.
