Purpose of the Role:

The post of Shift Leader CNM 2 has a pivotal role in co-ordination and management of activity and resources within the clinical area.  The main responsibilities are staffing and staff development, facilitating communication and professional/clinical and ethical leadership and in conjunction with the PICU Nursing Management team handle all grievance/disciplinary matters which are brought to your attention.

The CNM 2 Shift leader has a central role in the day to day organisation of the PICU. Management and development of staff is a fundamental requirement of this role

Essential Criteria:

  • Be registered in the Children’s division or General division of the Register of Nurses & Midwives maintained by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI),
  • 5 years Post Graduate experience in the Paediatric ICU or, 5 years acute paediatric experience for RGN candidates.
  • Graduate Diploma in Critical Care Nursing or relevant equivalent.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Management Qualification
  • Teaching and Assessing experience
