Purpose of the Role:

The purpose of this post is to provide professional and clinical leadership within Starling Ward, encouraging staff to develop clinical expertise for the benefit of staff and users of the service. The post holder is accountable, responsible and has authority for delivering a quality service and ensuring patient safety. Clinical Care on Starling Ward will be delivered by the team of General Paediatricians in CHI at Crumlin and will care for a defined cohort of patients. Patients meeting the criteria for Starling ward will have a planned discharge within 48-72 hours of admission.

  • To provide clinical leadership to a designated nursing team and ensure the provision of high quality care. 
  • To ensure the provision of a high standard of care to the children and their extended family is consistent with the mission, vision, values and strategic plan of the hospital.

To promote a progressive attitude to the continual improvement of patient care through research and evidence-based practice.

 

Essential Criteria:

  • Be registered on the Children’s Division of the Register of Nurses & Midwives maintained by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland 

And

  • Have at least 3 years post registration experience including experience within the area

And

  • Have the clinical, managerial and administrative capacity to properly discharge the functions of the role
