Purpose of the Role:

The post holder Clinical Nurse Educator Facilitator (CNEF) will work as part of the Saint Michael’s B/Neonatal High Dependency Unit (NHDU) team to manage the clinical educational needs of staff and students within the ward.

The CNEF is based primarily in clinical practice, supernumerary to the clinical nursing team, to focus solely on the ward / unit educational and support needs of nursing staff. The CNEF has a pivotal role in fostering an atmosphere conductive to learning and co-ordinating and managing education in his / her assigned clinical area, ensuring the provision of a quality clinical learning environment.

The CNEF will work in liaison with the Clinical Nurse Managers, Department of Nurse Education and Nurse Practice Development Department in order to provide co-ordinated hospital wide approach to clinical nurse education and the development of clinical practice

Essential Criteria:

  • Be registered on the Children’s Division on the live register of nurses & midwives maintained by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
  • Three years post RCN-Registration experience in a paediatric nursing setting.
  • Previous experience in teaching/mentoring staff nurses and students.
  • Neonatal Nursing experience.

Desirable:

  • Previous experience in audit (particularly in relation to documentation)
  • Recognised teaching Course
  • Master degree level qualification or willingness to undertake same.
