Purpose of the Role:

The post holder is based primarily in clinical practice, supernumerary to the clinical nursing team, to focus solely on education and to support the needs and progression of nursing staff. The CNEF has a pivotal role in fostering an atmosphere conducive to learning. The CNEF is responsible for the management, co-ordination and delivery of education in his / her assigned clinical area, ensuring the provision of a high quality, evidenced based clinical learning. The CNEF will work in partnership with the Clinical Nurse Managers, Department of Nurse Education, the Intensivists and The Nurse Practice development Department in order to provide a coordinated hospital wide approach to clinical nurse education and the development of clinical practice.

There are two posta available:
Full-Time (1 WTE), Fixed Term Contract for 12 months x 1
Part-Time (0.6 WTE), Specified Purpose Contract x 1

Essential Criteria:

  • Be registered on the Children’s Division of the live register of nurses & midwives maintained by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland.
  • 5 years post registration experience, of which 3 must be in PICU
  • Post graduate qualification in Paediatric Intensive Care Nursing at level 9
  • Demonstrate evidence of continuing professional development.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Recognised education qualification
  • A relevant Master’s degree
