Purpose of the Role:

The Administration Team Manager (ATM) will have a key role in managing and developing the function of the clinical administrative support staff within a speciality/service group. This role will involve leading and supporting staff through change.He/she will be responsible for ensuring optimal clinical administrative support is provided to the speciality or service in an efficient, cost effective and streamlined manner. The post holder will also work closely with the Directorate Operations Manager/Clinical Leads in each speciality as the hospital moves towards Clinical Directorates, to ensure balanced administrative support across specialties.

Essential Criteria:

  • Minimum Fetac Level 5 Course in Management & Supervisor.
  • Management and supervisory experience within clinical admin setting.
  • Minimum 5 year’s experience in a health care setting.
  • Knowledge of department structure & systems.
  • Experience in the area of patient relations.
  • Team work skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the key developments in clinical admin support services.
  • Excellent knowledge of PAS and administrative processes.
  • Knowledge and understanding of key aspects of Health Service Policy, access and waiting list targets and Quality Agenda.
  • Well developed problem solving skills that allow analysis of complex issues and the provision of workable solutions.
  • Ability to make decisions and escalate only when necessary.
  • Ability to manage staff effectively including motivation, team building, training & development as well as the management of disciplinary, absence and performance issues.
  • Project & change management experience. CT – be proficient in use of administrative software. E.g. Word / Excel / Power point etc.

Qualifications:

  • A tertiary qualification in health.
  • Tertiary qualification in health service administration or supervisory management.
  • Relevant Degree or Masters.
